Good Bike Stands

After all my recent moaning this post is going to be persistently positive.  Since starting this blog I’ve become aware of all sorts of things that I never really noticed before, like this bike stand outside Alsager Library:

These racks are not too close together, and not too close to the wall. They are in a nice open public area, but not blocking the path.  It is possible to lock the frame and a wheel to the rack.  What more could you ask of a bike stand?

Much the same can be said of these:

These are in Congleton in the rather nice pedestrianised area in the middle of town.  I was impressed by the placing of the bollards which prevent passers by bumping into bikes and stop passing vehicles clipping them. (The area is open to vehicles for loading at certain times.)

Also in Congleton is an example of how not to do it – outside the bike shop!
