A Bridge over a Canal over a Canal

Cycling home on the towpath today I came across this rather magnificent structure, not far from the Red Bull traffic lights.  This is where the Macclesfield Canal leaves the Trent and Mersey Canal.  The towpath crosses a footbridge over the MC just at the point where the MC crosses the T&M C!

The Macclesfield Canal is the higher of the two and it heads off towards Scholar Green (see yesterday’s picture) and then Congleton and Macclesfield.  The lower one is the stretch between Kidsgrove and Church Lawton.  I see the spot where cyclists bang their heads has been painted white…..   to cover the bloodstains?
